Hard to believe the month of April is gone! Yikes!! Things have been moving and grooving around here. Let's see.....my last post was April 4th. The next weekend Mackenzie had a little get together with her swim team girls for her birthday. It was basically a food fest! Let me tell you those girls can put away the food. I had a large fruit platter, veggie tray and then Mackenzie and her friend made tons of sweets to eat. The main course was pizza from Papa Murphy's. They went through 3 large pizza's with no problem. I couldn't cook them fast enough!! They played a few games, swam in the extremely cold pool and after all that watched the movie 21 dresses. You see my daughter sent out cyber invites and made the party from 11am until 5pm. Yeah, uh next time I'll be previewing the invites. Here's a few pics from the event.
As you can see Mackenzie made out like a bandit and it was certainly nice for her to actually have a birthday party. She's now officially 15 and we are on the count down to getting her driving permit. I wonder if there are stats showing how many parents go on meds to get past this point in their parenting career! lol Oh, I forgot to mention....my dear friend Sandy was kind enough to take Steven for the day. She has twin boys that are both 11 and then Steven's best friend, Garrett, also knows the Kuchan boys from church, so they were all in hog heaven having Nerf gun fights etc. and avoiding the chick stuff.
I've been doing a ton of painting over at the new rental house (along with Dad and John). The past owner was from Columbia and lets just say his favorite colors were lime green and rust! Need I say more??!! Anyway, the house is a very cute, 1700 sq ft, corner lot, two story with a pool, jacuzzi, fireplace and a master suite to die for! We are fixing it up and should have it available to rent in the next month. IF my husband would ever stay home!!! Just kidding honey! You deserve your break this weekend.
This past weekend Mackenzie had her State Synchro meet. Here team placed first and both her duet and trio routines came in second. Basically AAS came in first in all the team routines and dominated the meet. So we are for sure heading to Gainsville, Florida the end of June for the National Event. I just need to find an Avon rep and get my Skin So Soft lotion to fight off those darn Florida bugs!!! I will be going as a chaperone for the 13-15 age group.
Here's a picture of all the Aqua Star girls that were at the Tucson Meet.
This one is the 13-15 team.
Oh, and I have a very funny shot of Mackenzie and her friend Courtney the first night after they swam their team event. They were starving and both ordered two kids meals from Chili's. Check it out!
Moving on....after I came home Sunday Steven was telling me how he was having really bad sinus drainage and his throat hurt. He wasn't running a fever so I wasn't too concerned. The wind had been really bad and lord knows it's allergy season in Arizona. So I gave him some allergy meds and sent him to bed. Monday I went to work, he went to school and when I picked him up he mentioned he was feeling hot. The kid was running 102.7 fever. I called the doctor and we were lucky enough to get an appointment. The doctor asks Steven what his symptoms were and when they started and basically tells Steven it wasn't a long enough time to have an infection. Well, then he had to eat his words!!!! He looked into Steven's left ear and said "well that's disgusting!!". Then looked into his nose and that too was infected. Then to top it off the nurse knocks on the door and says Steven tested positive for strep throat! The kid has an extremely high tolerance for pain. The doc also gave him some steroid cream for his skin and pretty much told us that Steven should be going in for allergy shots. So that's next on the list of many things to do! Steven is now feeling much better!!!
Ok, so yesterday I put my dad back on a plane to Michigan. We were all sad to see him go (especially Kelsey). He had a really good time this year and was glad he stayed until the 25th. They put in a bean bag toss, horse shoe pit, putting green and shuffle board court. Basically the only day he wasn't booked was Wednesday and that just happened to be one of my days I worked from home. He sure helped me out this year with all my little projects. He painted all my fruit trees, helped me paint the interior of my house and the rental house. Thanks Dad!
My other big news is I bought a lap top!!! Since all my good friends have Mac's I was feeling a bit left out. So Friday night I bought a Mac Book Pro. It's slightly used. Turns out the guy I bought it from grew up and is friends with my next door neighbor. The kids and I have been playing around with it and I think we will convert to being a Mac family!!!
Today, Jackie, Piot and their families are coming over for dinner, stamping and a little Euchre.
Enjoy your Sunday!!!
