Man it's been such a long time since I've blogged. Where do I begin filling you in on what's been happening around here? Can you believe it's the end of March already? I just checked an my last post was March 2nd....my cousin Trisha's birthday. I got her the same gift she got me which was a gift card to Fushia, a day spa Trish has a membership at. While I was in there I scheduled my day at the spa. I decided to ad an additional 1/2 hr to my hour long massage and also get a facial. That is all happening Friday March 26th. Thought I deserved it since that will be the day Mackenzie officially turns 16. Can you believe it??? Why not have a little stress relief for this huge event eh? lol
Then the next birthday of the month was Miss Katie Bannon's birthday event on March 6th. She is now officially 9 years old. We still have to do her birthday sleepover and plan what activity we will do this year.
Next was our 19th wedding anniversary on March 9th. We did absolutely nothing to celebrate. Pretty lame I know. Just really haven't had the time. We are going to see Michael Bubble on April 8th so I'm thinking that will count as our little celebration.
Then little Zachary David Ferris was born on March 11th by c-section and through a little more excitement into our month. We were in charge of Abby Ferris for a little over a week while Jess and the baby were in the hospital and Adam was at the grandparents house. I was lucky enough to go over and hold the sweet boy when he was only a few days old. Steven went over and helped Jon and Jessie with Adam his first day home and pretty much wore him out in the backyard. As expected there is some adjustment period happening right now but the baby is thriving and Jess is recouping nicely.
Here's Abby lovin' on her boy Steven:)
Spring Break was fast & furious. It started out with Kimmy's breast cancer hike. I believe it's her 5th year holding this event and raised roughly $19,000! In the past Mackenzie has always had a meet the weekend of the hike this is the first year we've been able to attend. Jackie, Piot Nancy and I hike a 4 mile trail. After that, I had an adjustment. Boy did I need it!! All in all, it was a very fun day!
Here's Piot, myself, Jackie and Yvette hitting the trail.
Here's Steven, Mackenzie, Rachel, Riley, Mary and Drew
The day after the hike Mackenzie and I headed to the Scottsdale Art Fair where my cousin Ginger was selling her dog art and booking sitting for a photo shoot Easter weekend. You should see her photos....amazing stuff. Both kids are going to assist Ginger with the dogs when she does her shoot. I swear Steven is the dog whisperer so this shouldn't be a problem! haha
One of the things Mackenzie wanted for her birthday was to redo her bedroom and so she picked out a comforter set at Bed, Bath & Beyond and then we went to Lowe's and got the paint to match. Her room is now a very pretty ocean blue with brown and green accents. We are still trying to pick some other accessories.
Steven luckily was able to hang out with his friends over break and then on Friday I took he and Garrett back out to the trails to ride mountain bikes again. I hiked and then sat in the sun and read my book.
Mackenzie was at a swim meet the last 4 days of break. She managed to log a few times that were faster than last swim season and is looking forward to the rest of the year.
We have only 10 more weeks of school left! I guess I should say the regular school year....Mackenzie is for sure taking Chemistry this summer and I think Steven may take some classes just to keep his skills up since he'll be heading off to Jr. High.
Tena and I are doing a fabulous Beth Moore Bible Study, called Breaking Free, that will come to an end this next week. Luckily, we've all agreed to do another one. Can't wait to see what's next.
Looking at the time....I'd better run.
