Don't think I mentioned to anyone but my close gal pas that I was taking a quilting class at Scrapbooks Etc. Of course Tena, Trish, Karrie, Laurie and I were all in it together:). The quilt we made was called "Hip to Be Square". I decided to make the quilt for Steven who has been wanting to get a chrome bunk bed and paint his room gray. Well, I'm happy to tell you after 4 weeks of classes the project is done and I'm pretty darn proud of myself!
Here's an up close and personal look at the fabrics. Steven loves green and found the fabric with the circles on it. We went from there.
Here's the little doll all wrapped up. Notice the backside of the quilt is lined with a very soft fabric called minky. You just can't help but touch it.
Here's the quilt blocks laid out of the floor before I stitched them all together. I didn't actually do the machine quilting because the quilt was too big and I don't have a long arm machine. Louise, our instructor, did a fantastic job on all the quilts. Only one gal was brave enough to quilt her own.
Here are some pictures of the girls and their quilts. It was so fun to see all the variations.
This one is Tracy Bannon's. Her quilt was made for Katie. It really came alive after the quilting happened.
Here's the quilt Laurie made to give to here daughter Stephanie who is leaving to go study in Argentina for her Sophomore year of college.
This one is Tena's quilt. It is her second one this fall. She decided to make this for their brand new sectional. Another beautiful quilt!
Here's Trisha's selection. She and Karrie picked many of the same fabrics, yet each quilt has it's own style. Of course, I love both of these because the fall colors speak to me.
Last, but certainly not least, is Karrie's quilt. Karrie, bless her, had a bit of a hard start in the quilting arena. She totally missed the first class because she wrote it down wrong on three different calendars. Then she felt a bit out of her element. Let me just say she hung in there and was rewarded with an awesome quilt. Karrie seems to do everything well. I think the next class she takes she'll enjoy much more. We all will because we'll have some idea of what we're doing.
